I close my eyes and I’m enjoying this incense, and immediately woody materials come to mind, but not predictable, you can feel nuances of well-blended spices, there is a feeling of fresh, spicy, really elegant.

You can imagine yourself being hugged to a tree in a beautiful open field where you and the majestic trees are, the surrounding nature is enveloping, relaxing, it induces so much meditation, or sinking into yourself, I think a truly well-made incense.

I add that being a fragrance called under the bark, it evokes wood yes, but alive, or a forest with an exposed lymphatic part, also a liquid and fresh resin that flows.

 You raise your eyes and you have around you very high mountains that exceed the horizon, fans of fresh air bring with them other aromas, everything mixes in a balsamic day.

While the name might evoke something closed, dark, “grotesque”, its energy is lively and energetic.

My journey with incense began in the 1980s during my first trip to India. I was completely captivated by it—it wasn’t just curiosity, but a visceral love for a world made of living matter, sacred smoke, and ancient traditions.

In the 1990s, I felt the need to bring that experience home, starting to import and distribute exclusively natural incense for an audience that appreciated quality and good taste. My intent was clear from the very beginning: to promote the true culture of incense made solely with pure botanical elements and strictly free of synthetic laboratory-made additives. I wanted my own brand, with custom packaging and my logo, to give a precise identity to this vision. However, colliding with reality was tough: high source costs, suffocating bureaucracy, and an aggressive market focused on cheap mass-produced alternatives meant that initial dream ultimately stalled. Despite the setback, I never stopped burning incense in my daily life. That flame remained lit.

The real turning point came in 2020, evolving into a journey of authentic creation. I began experimenting and producing on my own, starting from what nature offered during a simple walk in the woods.

Today, I am proud to offer my own line of natural incense “Mahesh Masala Dhoop”, handcrafted with pure botanicals and no chemical shortcuts. Every single product is the result of careful selection, sourced from ethically sustainable and deeply authentic harvests. It is the circle coming full closure: from a simple admirer to an importer, and finally to the artisan shaping my own material.
