Balga leafs (Xanthorrhoea preissii)
€5.00 – €30.00Price range: €5.00 through €30.00
This very particular product is the part of the leaf (stalk) attached to the stem of this incredible plant from the semi-desert territories of Australia.
Plant similar to a Yucca or perhaps the example of a Dasylirion is more appropriate, where the large leaf system covers the stem like armor and also protects it from excessive sun, attacks by insects, other parasites and also from possible fires. In this case the harvest is only after the passage of a fire, where it does not cause the death of the plant for the question I have just mentioned, but the great heat produces a resinous liquid which after a few weeks dries up and remains stuck between the leaves . In the images you can see the circular part where all the leaves are attached to the stem and the side exposed to the flames.
When the aborigines cannot find the resin they use this material for their fumigations and ceremonies.
Honor to a great people!
Aroma: sweet, woody, deep.
I currently only have one sample that I would like to share with you in hopes of receiving more.
