€5.00 – €250.00Price range: €5.00 through €250.00
Scientific name: Cistus ladaniferus
Sinonimous: Cistus ladanifer
Family: Cistaceae
Common names: Labdanum, Ladano, Rock Rose.
Origin of cultivation: Spain
Sublime resin extracted from the leaves of a sometimes shrubby plant of the Mediterranean maquis especially on the coast of Spain and Greece.
This is one of the few resins that does not come from the stem of a tree, but is extracted from the very sticky leaves of this fascinating plant also called the Rose of the Rocks.
The traditional harvesting technique is using a stick wrapped in a cloth tied to the top, walking along the rows and rubbing the cloth on the top of the plant, this ensures that the resin remains clinging to the fabric which will subsequently be pulled away, once by hand , now by mechanical process.
Aroma; sweet, caramelized, must fragrance and fruity notes.
What can I say … absolutely a delight!
