Gowe (Cyperus articulatus) CO2, my personal project.
€12.00 – €50.00Price range: €12.00 through €50.00
Scientific name: Cyperus articulatus
Family: Cyperaceae (Papyrus family)
Local name: Gowe (Senegal), Ghenigouma (Burkina Faso)
Origin harvest: Mali
Essence with a full-bodied, sweet, warm, earthy, honey-caramel aroma, but with many hints of freshly toasted hazelnuts or cocoa creams and spreadable hazelnuts, slightly fat, various spicy nuances but not overbearing, some reminiscences of Turmeric or some Zingeberaceae.
Used in West Africa to make incense to burn on coals, the current problem is that they are filled with synthetic and low-quality aromatic essences. The totally natural product currently does not have a great “value”, so it is reinforced with very aggressive substances.
In the video I document the trip to Türkiye where I brought for the first time materials, especially African ones, to extract them with the CO2 technique.
