Descrizione
Scientific name: Styrax benzoin
Family: Styracaceae
Common names: benzoin
Origin: Sumatra (Indonesia)
I admit, it’s a recent discovery for me too, since there are several mysteries and above all commercial secrets about this fascinating plant that has been exploited for centuries now.
The term Sidukapi defines the internal extraction of the resin, that is, with the incision the product is immediately collected which drips out of the trunk in a decisive manner, you have a white product with golden amber veins.
The harvest is carried out approximately once a year, therefore in the period of maximum production season.
The aroma is decisive, pungent, perhaps with a higher rate of benzoic acid than the peach-pink one, which is left to dry on the tree called Tahir or Simadu.
